Biography
Dr. Sabreen Darwish’s research focuses on tobacco-related health disparities, examining social, cultural, and behavioral factors that influence smoking among minority populations. She explores social ties and social network dynamics, behavioral change theories, and sociocultural influences to inform the development of culturally tailored, network-based smoking cessation interventions. Her work aims to reduce disparities in tobacco use and improve cessation strategies for underserved communities

Dr. Sabreen Darwish is an academic and healthcare professional with expertise in adult health, cardiovascular and behavioral health, and tobacco prevention and cessation research. She earned her MSN from Queen’s University Belfast, Northern Ireland, and her PhD from the University of Massachusetts Boston. She has also held academic positions internationally, including at Jordan University of Science and Technology.
Currently, Dr. Darwish is a Professor in the Department of Nursing at the UMASS Boston, Manning College of Nursing and Health Sciences, contributing to the teaching, research, and service mission of UMASS Boston. She has taught a wide range of courses across nursing programs and has mentored and advised both undergraduate and doctoral nursing students.
