UMass Boston

Pathways & Multilingual Programs

Program Overview

The Pathways and Multilingual Programs work with students to build foundational college academic skills and provide resources to comprehensively prepare them for college life. We are proud to serve students from various sociocultural and linguistic backgrounds through research-based instructional and advising practices. Our courses and practices are informed by culturally sustaining pedagogies. As such, we prioritize the integration of students’ cultural and linguistic backgrounds as vital assets to the learning environment and as the foundation for building new knowledge. We are home to the English LanguageDirections for Student Potential, and Academic Success Advising Programs, as well as the Beacon Opportunity Network.

Beacon Opportunity Network

The Beacon Opportunity Network is a holistic coaching and referral program in the Student Equity, Access, and Success (SEAS) unit at UMass Boston. We support and comprehensively guide students by providing them with high-stakes information, resources, and tools to support their academic and professional success. We advocate for students’ access by enhancing their knowledge of university resources and developing collaborative partnerships across campus. We connect students to opportunities for scholarships, mentorship, skills-based workshops, and other on- and off-campus resources that will assist them with their academic, personal, and career goals.

We welcome any member of the UMass Boston community to complete the referral form linked below if they feel that they or someone else could benefit from the services we provide.
